Topic:  Problem with PCGuard

Having recently installed PCGuard from Blue Yonder it appears that Java doesn't run with the PCGuard firewall  switched on.

Having sucessfully tested the topo editor on machines with various security and anti-virus features enabled (including Windows firewall, Norton Antivirus, AVG and FSecure from talktalk) so far, this problem does seem to apply specifically to PCGuard.

Apologies for those of you who may have encountered this problem. For the time being, all we can suggest is that disable your PCGuard firewall to see the topos however, a non-Java topo viewer will be appearing very soon.

Meantime we are working on a solution or this problem- any suggestions welcome.

I use PCGuard without any problems.

If I open up PCGuard, go to firewall and look in internet access rules, I can see that java(TM)platform SE Binary is set to allow. If I remove it, then next time I try to view a topo I get asked whether to allow or block it.

Hope this helps.
